PARADIGM-ICE

OBJECTIVES AND IMPACT

Under this award we will develop a cutting-edge, scalable, and extensible Medical IoT (MIoT) platform that includes advanced features of medical device integration, data normalization, interoperability, EHR integration, and security.

This MIoT infrastructure, called PARADIGM-ICE, will be designed to integrate seamlessly with the PARADIGM mobile Care Delivery Platform (CDP) and its medical devices and systems

The MGH team, led by P.I. Julian M. Goldman, MD, in collaboration with subcontractor DocBox, Inc, will prototype key capabilities, such as device interfaces, EHR communication protocols, and caching and data validation mechanisms on the OpenICE open-source research platform to accelerate transitioning to the commercial-grade PARADIGM-ICE based on the  DocBox Apiary ICE platform.

Information will be publicly shared to advance industry standards and best practices across the healthcare sector. Open-source software will promote and facilitate innovation within the medical technology sector.

The ARPA-H PARADIGM Program

ABOUT ARPA-H
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) accelerates better health outcomes for everyone by supporting the development of high-impact solutions to society’s most challenging health problems.
PARADIGM
The Platform Accelerating Rural Access to Distributed and InteGrated Medical Care (PARADIGM) program aims to address the current challenges in rural health by creating a scalable vehicle platform that can provide advanced medical services outside of a hospital setting. Building on recent developments in fields ranging from satellite communication to medical device miniaturization, this mobile care platform will allow health providers to meet rural patients where they are.

PARADIGM leverages ARPA-H’s unique ability to connect experts and technologies across different disciplines to meet the distinct challenges of accessing rural health care.
